Introduction

The Department of Medical Oncology at Barasat Cancer Research & Welfare Centre boasts a rich history. Over the past decades, the field of Medical Oncology has witnessed remarkable progress due to the introduction of novel chemotherapy drugs, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies.

The Medical Oncology department at the Institute is organized into the following key divisions:

  • Pediatric Oncology
  • Hemato-Oncology
  • Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy
  • Solid Tumor Oncology

Research Initiatives: 

The Medical Oncology department maintains a robust research orientation. It has undertaken a plethora of investigator-initiated and regulatory trials, both completed and ongoing. The research endeavors of the department have contributed to transformative changes in medical practices on a national and global scale. Notably, the faculty and students have garnered several accolades for their outstanding research contributions.

Academic/Education activities

The department conducts the NMC-approved DM Medical Oncology super-specialty course, admitting students annually through NEET and centralized counseling. Students undergo structured clinical postings, engage in research, and participate in multi-specialty boards. Our alumni lead cancer centers nationwide, attesting to the quality of education provided.
