Our Clinical Biochemistry Department operates around the clock, providing a comprehensive array of routine investigations and specialized tests, including Tumor Markers, Electrophoresis, and MTX drug assays.

Introduction

Operating around the clock, our Clinical Biochemistry Department conducts both routine investigations and specialized tests such as Tumor Markers, Electrophoresis, and MTX drug assays. On average, we process 370 samples daily, performing over 3000-3500 tests per day, encompassing around 45 different parameters.

Department’s Scope:

Routine Investigations: Our department conducts an array of routine investigations encompassing Renal function tests, Liver function tests, Electrolytes, Magnesium, LDH, Uric acid, Coagulation Profiles, and fibrinogen, among others.

Tumor Markers

We specialize in Tumor Marker analyses including Beta HcG, AFP, CEA, CA125, CA19-9, PSA, and thyroid profiles such as FT3, FT4, TSH, Thyroglobulin, and Anti Thyroglobulins.

Special Tests:

Our offerings extend to specialized assessments like Lipid profiles, Cardiac markers CK, CK-MB, Troponin-I, Immunoglobulin levels, Beta-2-microglobulins, Iron, IBC, Ferritin, as well as 24-hour urine analyses for Creatinine clearance, proteins, BJP, VMA, HIAA, and Meta Nephrine. The results from these tests play a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care of cancer patients.

Quality Control

In our pursuit of elevated laboratory standards and report accuracy, our department diligently maintains internal quality control levels, L1 and LII, on a daily basis. Additionally, we have consistently engaged in the international External Quality Assurance Scheme (EQAS) through monthly participation with Bio-Rad company for the past 3 decades.

Academic Activities in Department

We consistently provide internship training to first-year M.Sc. students and B.Tech. students from external institutions. Over the last two years, we’ve extended this training to M.Sc. students and B.Tech. (Bio-Tech) students. Additionally, we welcome B.Sc. Biochemistry graduates and DMLT students from various institutions as regular observers in our department.

Consequently, we conduct Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs annually, maintaining a 12-year tradition, having successfully organized 11 CME programs and a notable workshop. These events feature distinguished speakers from both national and international levels.
