This department was established to support the clinical research activities conducted by various clinical departments, such as Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Anaesthesia, Palliative Medicine, and others. The unit comprises advanced infrastructure, including an 8-bedded clinical trial ward, conference room, research pharmacy, archival room, research coordinator workspace, and consenting room, among others. It conducts both investigator-initiated and regulatory pharmaceutical trials. The unit is well-equipped with refrigerators and deep freezers for the storage of study drugs and biological samples. It has the capability to handle all phases of drug trials. Our Institute has been recognized by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, as a leading center in Oncology. It has received funding from BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council) for the development of the clinical research unit. The unit strictly adheres to good clinical practice and other mandated guidelines for clinical research issued by the government of India. The Clinical Research Unit/Clinical Trials services unit is administered by the Clinical Trials Steering Committee.

CTSU provides support for the following types of trials:

  1. Investigator-initiated trials
  2. Trials proposed for a single center
  3. Multicenter investigator-initiated studies
  4. Regulatory pharmaceutical trials
